Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you! I’m Meera Mehta, a Speech and language therapist with over 10 years of experience working in both the UK and Kenya. I’d like to share a bit about my journey. Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, my roots have always been a significant part of my identity. When I moved to the UK to study Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Sheffield, I was driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact—not just in my own life but in the lives of children and families seeking support with communication.
At the heart of everything I do, is a deep passion for helping others. Whether you’re a parent, a teacher, or someone seeking guidance, I look forward to walking this path with you and helping your child thrive.

At Speech and Language Techniques, our mission is to empower clients to reach their highest potential in communication. Through individualised treatment plans, we address a broad spectrum of speech and language challenges, helping clients improve clarity, comfort, and confidence in expressing themselves.
Our service is especially dedicated to helping children find their voices. Meera Mehta, our Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and certified Orofacial Myologist, brings expertise in creating engaging, research-based therapies that focus on each child’s unique strengths and needs. Meera combines her extensive knowledge with a compassionate, play-based approach, ensuring that each session is both effective and enjoyable.
What is Speech
Therapy?
Speech Therapy addresses the assessment and treatment of issues related to speech, language, cognition, voice, and swallowing or feeding. Speech therapists work with individuals who experience communication or swallowing difficulties, which can range in severity from mild to complex. These challenges may be due to physical, psychological, or developmental factors, with symptoms that can be either subtle or significant.
Thankfully, speech therapy is a well-established field, utilising a variety of evidence-based techniques to enhance communication skills and improve quality of life.

Your Child?
Absolutely! Meera specialises in working with children, from early childhood through school age. She collaborates closely with parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in your child’s care to ensure comprehensive support. With a proven track record, she helps children develop effective communication skills in a caring and engaging environment.
Meera believes that some children who are labelled “late talkers” may have underlying orofacial myofunctional disorders affecting their mouth muscle coordination, which can be misdiagnosed as expressive language disorders. Addressing these underlying factors is key to helping children reach their communication potential.

So grateful to have found Meera. My daughter loves going to Meera's clinic and her speech is coming along leap and bounds. If it wasn't for Meera, we wouldn't have thought to get my daughter's ears checked to which we found glue ear present in both ears. Her gentle, engaging and fun techniques have meant my daughter is able to communicate more with us more. Meera also checks in multiple times a week on progress and offers even more help outside the clinics. I can't recommend her enough!

My son says: “She makes the ‘y’ and ‘sh’ sounds really easy to pronounce, and it’s fun doing it. I love it!”Having worked with many speech therapists, I was becoming frustrated with the generic advice of simply modeling speech, as I was already doing that at home. I was looking for specific, actionable tips to help my son with each sound. Meera stands out because she provides precise guidance for each sound, along with fun and engaging activities to help him practice.I vetted many speech therapists to find the right fit for my son, ensuring that I was getting the best value for money. My son can find the repetitive nature of speech therapy boring. However, Meera managed to engage him and keep him interested. We saw noticeable progress with the “sh” sound after just two sessions and with the “y” sound after just one.Many therapists had previously tried to explain how to make the “y” sound by describing tongue movements or using mirrors, but my son struggled to grasp it since everything was happening inside his mouth. Meera, however, introduced a ‘magic’ technique that instantly helped him understand and master the sound. It was a breakthrough moment.I appreciated her honesty when she informed me that my son would likely need fewer sessions than I initially anticipated.On top of that, Meera excels in the administrative side of things. She’s always clear about when sessions are scheduled, what we’ll be working on in each block, and provides thoughtful “homework” to reinforce the lessons.The progress with Meera has been rapid, and she has exceeded all of my high expectations.
My daughter of 6 years old has been working with Meera for a few weeks, and I’m astonished with the progress my daughter has made . Her speech has resolved within this time and I’m so happy to see how confident she has become. My daughter really looked forward to her sessions with Meera and is quite upset they have now come to an end. Meera made the sessions very welcoming for her and fun. Amazing results. My son’s lisp was completely resolved within a few sessions. The sessions were really engaging and fun and my son really looked forward to them. Flexible appointments at times that suited us was also really useful. Would highly recommend!
